Overview: JC Watson

This project was delivered through a three-way collaboration between Nautics Technologies, Social Enterprise, and the client JC Watson.

The engagement was introduced through a trusted partner, Spencer Hudson, who played a central role in coordinating design and strategy. JC Watson is a well-established UK-based industrial company specializing in large-scale V2 installations, including high-capacity air conditioning and infrastructure systems for airports, hospitals, and complex facilities.

The client’s existing website no longer reflected the scale, complexity, or professionalism of their operations. They required a complete digital redesign not just visually, but structurally.

Challenges

This was not a simple build: it was an enterprise coordination challenge.

1. Scale & Complexity

With over 70 pages, including technical content and documentation, the site required:

  • Strong information architecture
  • Consistent navigation
  • Performance optimization

2. External Design Dependency

The design was created by an external designer working with Spencer Hudson.
This meant:

  • Development had to strictly follow Figma designs
  • Feedback loops needed to be tight
  • Misalignment would cause delays

Precision mattered.

3. Parallel Workstreams

While Nautics Technologies handled development:

  • Social Enterprise was executing marketing
  • Designers were creating visual and video assets
  • The client was reviewing content and structure

Without a structured process, this would have failed.

Our Solution

We treated this as an agile, multi-team enterprise programme, not a single project.

Step 1: Agile Delivery Framework

We adopted an agile methodology, allowing:

  • Parallel design and development
  • Incremental page releases
  • Continuous feedback
  • Controlled scope management

This ensured progress continued even while designs evolved.

Step 2: Design-to-Code Workflow

Designs were delivered in Figma by the client’s designer.

Our development team:

  • Reviewed designs section by section
  • Translated layouts into reusable components
  • Ensured pixel-level accuracy
  • Maintained performance and accessibility standards

This preserved design quality without sacrificing stability.

Step 3: Custom Laravel Development

JC Watson website was developed using Laravel.

Laravel was chosen because:

  • It handles large, structured websites effectively
  • It supports custom logic and portals
  • It offers strong security
  • It scales with enterprise content needs

Custom modules were built for:

  • Page management
  • Brochure/document access
  • Login and restricted areas

Step 4: Content & Brochure Integration

JC Watson had:

  • Extensive brochures
  • Technical documents
  • Industry-specific materials

We structured these into:

  • Easily accessible sections
  • Downloadable formats
  • Secure access where required

This turned the website into a sales and information hub, not just a brochure site.

Step 5: Marketing & Media Collaboration

While development progressed, Social Enterprise handled:

  • Social media strategy
  • Video recording and production
  • Marketing design materials

This ensured:

  • Brand consistency across channels
  • Website and marketing alignment
  • Strong launch readiness
